outline draft for a drupal recipie book

So I’ve been thinking about this for a while now and here’s my first draft at an outline for a drupal recipie book.

  1. Getting Started. This would a be a list of things you should know, resources you should have at your disposal, and some key concepts before the book would start showing its value. Might be things like setting up a test environment, some basic drupal terminology, and an overview of drupal at a farily high level.
  2. About Drupal Modules (ingredients)
  3. Recipies
    1. Social Networking Sites
    2. Media Hosting Sites
    3. Rating Sites
    4. Corporate Sites

Getting out of Email and into Gmail

Google Apps for Domains service is doing such a great job that I will no longer be hosting email, not even my own.

I've moved three clients over to it after running a test on a small domain I manage myself.

I am moving my email over to Google starting today, I can then shut down my incoming mail and know that someone with a few billion dollars in the bank is looking after it.

New Project: BigBook

BigBook is a Customer Relationship Manager with a different twist.

Too many products out there, both free and fee-based, place way too much complexity into managing your relationships with a contact.

I’m going to design a system that removes that complexity and just gets back to the business of keeping track of things you do with people you know.

As you might know by now, like everything I do it will be open source.

Be a better entrepreneur -- 100 ways to do it.

I just finished reading this post on Entrepreneur, and I think there’s something in here for almost everyone.

In the Niagara Region, what do you think are the most important points to take away from this article? Is there anything specific to our little corner of the world?

Feel free to post a comment below.

100 Ways to Be a Better Entrepreneur

Niagara Networkers: An open source business networking group?

I was thinking about the goals of the Niagara Networkers group, when a thought struck me about its operation and formation that brought a smile to my face.

The members of this group understand how open source software works because I’ve put the same principles to work in the networking group.

  • The group identified an itch.
  • They decided the itch was enough of a concern to actually do something about it.
  • The group is pooling resources and talent to scratch the itch.
  • The idea is free in the sense that there are no barriers to other people in other areas doing the same thing.

Niagara Networkers: A great new opportunity

this group is no longer meeting at the moment.

Well, the Niagara Networkers had their second official meeting, and it was just as well attended as the first. We’re making some real progress here and everyone is excited about the potential.

If you’re new to the idea, as most people will be, you can find the details here. It’s a local business networking group that a bunch of us have started to help one another generate business in a more cooperative and collaborative spirit.

Who sent in the clowns?

I found this article today in Linux Today newsletter.

Why Microsoft Should Acquire Linux

The article’s primary position is that by controlling key Linux distributors, Microsoft can ensure standards and ongoing development of the Linux platform. Just when you think you’ve heard the stupidest thing in the history of creation, somebody always feels they have to do one better.

If you do a search for further articles by Gundeep Hora you’ll find that this person’s entire portfolio consists of pointing out flaws in Linux (real or imaginary) and boosting benefits in MS products (real or imaginary).

Open Your Mind

I read this article on leadership qualities today on Lifehack and I was intrigued by how much this resonates with me with what’s happening around me recently.

Review the article and reflect on how many of those leadership traits you possess, regardless of your current status as a leader. The more you can begin developing today, the better the payoff for you personally, professionally and spirtually in the coming years.
